PU conducts seminar on digital transformation

LAHORE: (Thursday, August 07, 2025): In connection with Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, Punjab University Department of Social Work in collaboration with Center of Information Technology (CIT) organized a seminar on “Digital Transformation; A Roadmap till 2047”. On this occasion, Chairperson Department of Social Work Prof Dr Uzma Ashiq, Director CIT Sir Syed Ammar Jaffri, experts including Nabila Intisar, Ambreen Sipra, Saher Malik, Irum Shaheen Malik, faculty members and others were present. In her address, Dr Uzma Ashiq said that the event was organized to commemorate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, with a firm commitment to the nation’s digital and inclusive future. She said that the seminar reflected the Department of Social Work’s unwavering mission: to empower communities, promote social justice, and ensure no one is left behind in the digital era. This initiative showcased how social work education is adapting to contemporary global challenges through the integration of emerging technologies, digital literacy, and policy innovation, she added. Director CIT Sir Syed Ammar Jaffri presented an inspiring roadmap for a digitally empowered, inclusive Pakistan by 2047. He said that the seminar served as a platform to explore the intersection of social work values with digital innovation, inclusive development, and sustainable progress. The experts light on digital education and skill development, AI-driven policymaking and research in academia, cyber security in the realm of social protection, women and youth inclusion in emerging tech spaces, aligning academic reform with SDG frameworks.
